Why HelpSignal started

Finding a service is only part of finding help.

Hours, capacity, and access rules can change before someone gets there. A trip to a pantry or another service can cost bus fare, time away from work, or most of a day. HelpSignal started so the latest public information is easier to check before someone calls or travels.

What HelpSignal is

A provider-controlled public status tool for local urgent resources.

Participating providers can share their current status and public access details. Other listings show information HelpSignal checked from public sources. Each listing tells people where its information came from and when it was last updated.

People can search without creating an account.

Where we are today

HelpSignal is starting in Colorado Springs.

The public resource board is live.

Participating providers can update through supported methods including a secure update link, provider or admin console, SMS where configured, or an update-email reply.

When a provider-reported status is more than 24 hours old, HelpSignal shows "Not Updated Today" instead of continuing to present the older status as today's status.

The Bulletin is separate from Community Reports and provider status.

The Bulletin shows meaningful HelpSignal activity: who has started updating, where HelpSignal has been, and important milestones.

Public browsing is free.

HelpSignal does not ask providers to share client records.

The mission

Make the latest public status easier to check before someone spends a trip.

HelpSignal does not guarantee availability, eligibility, placement, or services.

It does not replace provider intake, HMIS, Coordinated Entry, case management, 211, or emergency services.

Call the provider when details matter.
